The Canterbury Caledonian Society has a proud history of pipebanding.
Over the years the number of playing members has grown with there now being 4 bands over seen by the organisation
Members joining the Society at an early age become members of the Piping and Drumming school, once competent enough to play and compete they join the Juvenile band, in New Zealand contests Juvinile is a seperate grade so many of these players also play and compete in the Grade 4 band, a band with a wealth of experience to bolster and encourage upcoming talent.
The Grade 3 band exists as the next rung up in the societies bands and has competed successful in that grade often finishing in the top 3 at national contest.
Playing pipes and drums in the society offers a great community with over 150 playing members across all bands
